Brisbane City Council Free Native Plants program

As of February 2020 Oxley Nursery is participating in the BCC Free Native Plants Program.  If you wish to claim your plants from us you will need to collect a Free Native Plants voucher prior to visiting.

Brisbane City Council’s Free Native Plants Program offers a range of plants to assist the community to plant and green their properties. The native species provided through the program will help grow our city’s urban forest and support local wildlife.

Who is eligible?

  • residential ratepayers
  • residential body corporates
  • schools
  • registered community groups
  • clubs on Council-leased land
  • official citizenship ceremonies.

How to Apply

FIRST: Visit a Council Regional Business Centre, a Council library or ward office and present a paid rates notice from the current financial year. Public housing and Defence Housing residents must provide evidence of a recent rental payment.

You will receive an approved stamped Free Native Plants voucher.

Drop in to Oxley Nursery and exchange your voucher for two free native plants.

PLEASE NOTE: Residential ratepayers will be required to obtain a Free Native Plants voucher before visiting us.

** Residential rates notices are not accepted directly for the Free Native Plants program.

What Plants are available?

The plants available are subject to availability and seasonal variation. They include

  • Groundcovers
  • Tufting plants and grasses
  • Climbers
  • Small shrubs – 0.5 metres to two metres
  • Medium shrubs – three to five metres
  • Shade and feature trees – over five metres
